I feel like SF gets a bad wrap. Here we are in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, creating amazing fashion (ahem, Colleen Quen and Erica Tanov to name a few) and accessories (Hello Sarah Swell!) and everyone is biting our style, drinking the SF Kool-Aid per se. But yet our creatives seem to be stuck in the Bay Area vacuum getting minimal national attention. Umm, have you seen the eccentric punks, and 70’s California bohemian, yeah, it was like BORN HERE.
I digress. What I really want to say is it is about time for San Francisco creatives to shout loud and proud about the style we have here. A few years ago – oh wait, was that over 8 years ago now – when I sat in Dolores Park and made my decision to move here from LA, I was excited and scared, hopeful and naive, there HAD to be a fashion scene here, how could there not be. Well as I soon found out, there was and it was fledgling. I found all the passionate stylish folks and we made a go of it, but in the end this lovely (read: expensive) city had other plans for me. Tech PR. Who woulda thunk? After four glorious years working on stellar clients and leading the social media movement, I now turn my energy and attention back to what really gets me going: creativity in all its glory – design – art – fashion – lifestyle.
Coming soon, a place that truly celebrates SF style – from all walks of life. This is not me taking pictures of my outfits, I promise. It’s The Cult.
